In recent years, indications have been added to the factors derived from platelet concentrates. Platelet-rich plasma is nothing more than a concentrate of the factors present in the patient’s blood that are purified and concentrated<\/strong> prior to surgery in the clinic itself.<\/p>\n

Being a blood product of the patient, any risk of disease transmission is canceled. According to the latest research published in the American journal of Maxillofacial Surgery JOM<\/a>S, the use of PRP improves the immediate postoperative period<\/strong> in the extraction of wisdom teeth<\/a>, or third molars. This study shows that the topical use of PRP gel produces less pain and inflammation, less trismus (temporary inability to open the mouth), as well as greater and faster bone healing.<\/p>\n

For years at the Maxillofacial Institute<\/strong> of the Teknon Medical Center, the patient has been offered the possibility that the extraction of wisdom teeth is accompanied by the use of PRP to minimize postoperative discomfort.<\/p>\n
