Nowadays, <strong>GBR techniques<\/strong> are mainly indicated in the oral cavity to support new bone growth on an alveolar ridge to enhance the site for a future stable placement of\u00a0<strong>dental implants<\/strong>. There is evidence that when soft tissue is mechanically excluded from the healing of <strong>osseous defects<\/strong>, bone regeneration is significantly enhanced.<\/p>\n<p>On the cellular level, bone regeneration is a complex coordinated proliferation process where different types of cells including <strong>osteoblasts, bone-lining cells, osteoclasts,<\/strong> and <strong>osteocytes<\/strong> regulate bone formation.
