Dental Aesthetics

What is Dental Aesthetics?

Dental aesthetics is a subspecialty of odontology that is responsible for providing harmony and beauty to the smile.

When we talk about a "beautiful smile"  we are referring not only to the denture, but to three distinctive components that define it and that must be taken into account:

  • The lips
  • The gums
  • The teeth

All of them must be analyzed together by the dental aesthetic specialist to obtain the desired balance in the results. A good specialist in dental aesthetics will take into account all the components of the face as a whole, achieving a correct harmony of the mouth with the rest of the elements that make up the face.

What is Dental Aesthetics?

LIPS

The lips are the frame of the smile. The aesthetic improvement of the lips is done through different techniques of facial aesthetic surgery and reversible treatments designed to improve the thickness and position in smile of the lips.

Either to increase or decrease the volume of the lips, or to correct congenital or acquired alterations, in Maxillofacial Institute we propose minimally invasive techniques that offer very natural and lasting results.

GUMs

The size and color of the gums are key for a beautiful smile, therefore, gums' alignment and conditioning is essential for a beautiful and natural design.

The gums must have an adequate length and a healthy color, in addition to an arched shape in perfect alignment with the teeth.

There are several periodontal techniques indicated to maintain the health of the gums, as well as to cover the roots of patients' teeth when they appear too long.

TEETH

The dental treatment is the most delicate part of the design of the smile. It is important to study the shape, size and colour in order to offer each individual results that are aesthetically pleasing as well as natural looking.

The most common treatments are dental veneers and teeth whitening. In addition to these procedures, the area of dental aesthetics also includes the oral rehabilitation techniques necessary for improving the smile, together with Digital Smile Design, a digital system for planning and facilitating the work of the specialist and increasing patient confidence.
