Prof. Hernández-Alfaro has published in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (official organ of the North American Society of Maxillofacial Surgery), the article "Minimally Invasive Surgically assisted Rapid Palatal Expansion, whith limited approach under sedation: A report of 283 consecutive cases " Which contains the experience of the Maxillofacial Institute with this original technique of Prof. Hernández-Alfaro, for the treatment of transverse problems of the maxilla in the adult.
In the article, the technical details and results obtained in 8 years with this procedure of orthognathic surgery under local anesthesia and sedation in ambulatory regime (without admission) are explained. This series of cases is the largest published worldwide.
